Lost and Found Press Packet:

On Friday, 20th of August 2021, the Vacant Museum will open its latest international online exhibition, Lost & Found to the world and present a vast collect of people, places, things, and ideas lost or found at some point in time around the globe. The exhibition features emerging contemporary artists from around the world and operates as a worldwide collective lost and found box. Works within the exhibition are available for purchase directly within the show on vacantmuseum.com

The exhibition will not only bring together feelings of loss and discovery, but provide a space for visitors to contemplate their own experiences of both throughout the shift in normalcy brought on by the 2020 pandemic. Lost & Found covers missing or located objects and ideas from any time or place but is especially focused on what was lost and found in recent history.

With everything that has been lost throughout the era of the pandemic, we have a right to question where things really go when they go missing, and why we come across the things we do, when we do. Can everything that is lost eventually be found?

Search through the collection on 20 August 2021 on VacantMuseum.com/exhibits and contemplate these ideas for yourself. A new work of art for your collection also awaits to be found!

Familiar Strangers Exhibition Press Packet:

The Vacant Museum’s upcoming online exhibition, Familiar Strangers will implore artists and viewers to question everything they think they know about themselves. The self-portrait showcase, coming to vacantmuseum.com on 16 July 2021 and featuring over 100 artists from over 30 countries, challenges the concept of the self-portrait as accurate and honest representation, especially in the age of the internet.

Prepare for this exhibition to overturn your faith in the age-old tradition of self-portraiture and to remind you that we live in a world where everyone can be anyone. While perusing this curated collection of faces from around the world, the Vacant Museum will give viewers the opportunity to ask themselves, “are any of these people really who they say they are?”

In order to be featured in the exhibition, all artists must answer the question, “who do you think you are?” upon submission of their self-portrait. Can we truly trust them to answer honestly?

Subscribe to VacantMuseum.com on their website for instant notification once the exhibition goes live. Visit vacantmuseum.com/exhibits on 16 July 2021 to view works from 100+ artists from 30+ countries and follow the Vacant Museum on Instagram and Facebook for more!

About Vacant: Press Statement:

The Vacant Museum. A roadmap would not get you there but a little curiosity and a slightly rebellious temperament most likely would. At this international online art gallery, it is possible to find yourself lost in a chamber of personal reflections, a far-away planet of imagined creatures and beasts, or a time-capsule of distant memories, all at once. VacantMuseum.com is more than an exhibition space, it is your magnifying glass to hold up to a microcosm of creativity.

At the Vacant Museum, artists and exhibitions are free to be sui generis; Latin for “of their own kind.” The gallery specializes in thematic exhibitions that connect viewers to artworks they may never have encountered otherwise. You are guaranteed to uncover fresh and flourishing talent here as the museum places undiscovered wonders alongside familiar favorites everywhere artwork is displayed.

What makes the Vacant Museum an anomaly? Their commitment to challenging the traditions of art exhibition. With no tickets, entry fees, or ingrained exclusivity– the Vacant Museum rejects the limitations and attitudes that have hindered access to art for far too long. The Vacant Museum’s role as an online gallery is to encourage and support artists in exhibiting their work and create a positive feedback loop for artists and viewers anywhere in the world. Social activism and awareness are regular components of their programming and practice.

The Vacant Museum organizes global calls for submissions to themed group exhibitions which are announced about once a month. Additionally, new sui generis/emerging artists are spotlighted every week in the ongoing Next Generation Artist Spotlight Series as new projects and opportunities continuously arise. Those intrigued should subscribe to stay updated on the latest projects and receive newsletters and artist profiles in their inbox by visiting VacantMuseum.com, and following the Vacant Museum on Instagram and Facebook: @VacantMuseum on both.
